In the government of Vorarlberg the geographical information system of Vorarlberg (VOGIS) is applied. After start and installation of VOGIS the processes of building-up and the management of geographical databases are running. The application in the system of government's work will be done step by step. This article describes the aims and the components of VOGIS, the connection to the development of GEM-GIS, a special GIS-application for the communities.
