Within the scope of the running project for the reform of the Swiss cadastral survey a new national legislation has been put to force. The new cadastral survey shall not only serve the land registration but also make it possible to build up land information systems based on a complete set of numerical data. The realization has been started by legislation on cantonal level and the necessary organizational and financial dispositions. The experiences within the first pilot projects are positive and encouraging. The difficulties may be mastered and with the application of new technologies and procedures time and money can be saved.
