There is a great need for better systems of cadastral surveying and land registration in most developing countries. The advantages of such measures are obvious. They include greater security, less litigation, easier transactions, better credit facilities, simplified administration and a better basis for agrarian reforms. Registration may also have important influences on land tenure. A system of compulsory and systematic registration area by area, aiming at full security of all registered titles and based on cadastral maps, seems to be the best one for developing countries
