The Canadian surveyor. - Vol. 40, No. 4 (Winter 1986) ; p. 521-528
After a short description of the Swiss cadastre, that is the official cadastral survey and land record, the paper discusses the new concept that was proposed approximately 12 years ago. This concept is being refined through a series of studies in various specific areas. In approximately two years the "reform of the official survey" will result from these studies. The form and contents of these improved cadastral surveys will be the basis of a Land Information System. The aim is to improve the services provided by cadastre for the public and private sector. Because of this professional background the land surveyor will be able to play the role of coordinator between the various interested parties concerned with the creation of the Land Information System, besides carrying out his traditional activities.
