Berugoda, S.

With abstract in English. With references.

From the early 1980's Sri Lanka has been taking steps for introducing scientific land use planning. This has culminated in the formulation of the Land Use Planning Project which is now being implemented. This project envisages the establishment and maintenance of a computerized Geographical Information System/Land Information System, introducing registration of title of land and formulating land use plans indicating recommended uses. This will be a combined effort of several agencies. The National Survey Department has the task of establishing and maintaining a geographic Data Base/Cadastral Data Base.
