The case of Cebu, Philippines demonstrates how a GIS is implemented within present organizational structures to support the planning activities in the province. Availability of geo-referenced data (topographic and thematic maps) and non-spatial information (socio-economic data) is moderate. The integration of satellite imagery and use of GPS is planned. A PC-based raster software (ILWIS) was installed. Initial databases have already been generated.
